Yoga Nidra is a deeply restorative practice that facilitates relief on many levels, including mental, emotional and physical.  Experienced in Savasana or another suitable resting position, the practitioner is led through a guided meditation that enhances the neuroplasticity of the brain while allowing the body/mind to rest.

One of the wonderful benefits is that just 15 minutes of Yoga Nidra provides the equivalent rest that comes from an hour of sleep. There are numerous additional physiological and psychological benefits, including (but not limited to) a release of tension in the nervous system, a balancing of hormonal secretion throughout the body, and an awakening and mobilization of prana (bioplasmic energy). This allows for psychic, pranic and mental healing.

As a Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist, Yoga Nidra Facilitator and Health, Wellness and Lifestyle Coach Sharon Harvey Alexander weaves her diverse background into private practice and group yoga classes and workshops with mature students. Her gentle yoga classes emphasize breath awareness, grounding, alignment, and contemplation. Sharon believes that yoga, and Yoga Nidra in particular, offers an opportunity to fully inhabit and deepen our connection with body, mind and spirit through the inner connection, awareness of mind and emotions and by honoring that deeper place of knowing and connecting with the true Self, the light within.

*** Participants can bring their own yoga mats and a blanket, if you have them and a bottle of water.  Dress comfortably in layers, as you will cool down during the practice.
