Monday, March 20, 7 – 9 pm,
with Prof. Dennis Evenson.
“If spring came but once a century instead of once a year, or burst forth with the sound of an earthquake and not in silence, what wonder and expectation there would be in all hearts to behold the miraculous change. ”
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
What Longfellow was getting at is that Spring Should Be a Perpetual Astonishment! A major motive for such astonishment is the realization that, in spring, each seed harbors a ‘Lazarus come forth’ in its aura. There is a resurrective force at the heart of every living thing. The power of resurrection has descended upon and risen up from the earth like a benediction.
This will be the seed-thought for our meditations together as we open ourselves to the celestial outpourings gracing Earth on this special occasion and mutually call to life those impulses which can work with transformative power in our souls—enabling us to stand more firmly in the light of Spirit, and strengthening our capacity to access and radiate this light in service to humanity.
Prof. Dennis Evenson was consultant to the Findhorn Community Festivals group and led equinox and solstice gatherings at the New York Open Center as well as at the medicine wheel of Sacred Big Horn Mountain. Dennis is a Sufi Priest, was a Teaching Fellow at Harvard and Oxford Universities, served on the U.N. Central Communications Committee and was Director of Education of the Long Island Conservatory.
