How do new scientific understandings of Earth as a living system intersect with cultural stories and narratives of human society as a seamless continuum of our planet? What implications does this have for our physical and spiritual well-being? Martin Ogle explores these questions with a multi-media presentation, bringing to bear a 29-year career as a naturalist, Earth scientist and storyteller.

Ogle blends the “big picture” of Earth’s physiology (a.k.a. “Gaia Theory”) with insights into history, psychology, spirituality, and religion, suggesting our new identity as “Earth-wise humans.” He concludes with new perspectives on entrepreneurship and human creativity and urges us to make the creation of a healthy, thriving world a great spiritual journey as well!

* Gaia Theory was developed in the 1960s by NASA scientist James Lovelock and reveals Earth as a physiological system made up of all organic and inorganic elements and processes. This idea was named “Gaia” after the Greek Goddess of Earth honoring the fact that science is re-discovering what our ancestors knew at a mythological/ cultural level.
