Tuesdays, beginning April 22, 9:30 – 10:30 am,
with Jaqui Gee.
Tai Chi is an ancient form of Chinese exercise created about 750 years ago. These slow movements develop strong bones and equilibrium from a firm rooting of the feet. It stimulates the memory and generates a feeling of confidence and relaxation.
This form takes about a year to learn. You will learn patience with yourself and commitment. At first the movements will feel strange and awkward but they are repeated in each class and you will remember them and slowly perfect them. I will demonstrate the martial arts aspect of each movement, so that you will understand the background and the context. The serenity and concentration that you see when the art is demonstrated will soon be yours with time.
Classes are Yang style short form which consists of 37 postures developed by Professor Cheng Man-Ch’ing. Wear comfortable clothes.
